GARAGE SALE: Update on Sign Placements September 12, 2008

FROM CANTON TOWNSHIP: No signs should be placed in the easements (the area from the sidewalk to the street) or near intersections. Officers said that any signs other than the “official” garage sale signs (our framed yellow signs in the easements on Lotz and Cherry Hill) on major roads would be taken down by the ordinance officers. After the “official garage sale weekend” the officers will confiscate any signs in easements. Any signs of reasonable dimensions (size of a real estate sign for example) placed from the home to the sidewalk are permitted. The residents are asked to remove the signs and means to attach them, like yarn, tape, etc. with the same care that was used to erect them in the first place.
Please use this info as a guideline when placing your Garage Sale signs in the neighborhood!

Building a Bridge through BROOKSIDE! September 12, 2008

This month we are launching a new park fundraiser to help supplement the costs to rebuild our South Park bridge. Did you know our bridge is over 30 years old? It is used daily by many members of our subdivision as they ride bikes, walk dogs, and play in our South Park. It is the primary connector for foot traffic to a whole section of our subdivision in the Northwest corner. It is a major feature of one of our two valuable parks. These parks may or may not have factored into your decision to buy a house in Brookside Village, at the time of your purchase. However, when the time comes to sell your home, you will benefit from having beautifully updated parks with features like the bridge to enhance your sale. For this reason, and for the hundreds of families who enjoy having a beautiful, safe park only steps away from home, please consider donating to our Building the Bridge effort.
Question: Why do I have to donate? What does my $36 in annual dues get used for?
Answer: The majority of our annual dues is spent towards maintenance. We have the least expensive dues of any subdivision in Canton and we operate on a shoestring budget. A few volunteers donate time.
Your dues pay for:
- Common Grounds/Parks Lawn Care
- Tree Cutting Service
- Snow Removal
- New Signs For the Front Entrances
- New Park Signs and Painting
- Park Shed Repair and Painting
- Park Garbage Cans
- Postage
- Wood Chipping/Annual Park Creek Clean-up
- New Lighting in South Park (North Park coming soon..)
- Bank Fees/Insurance/Processing Fees
- Summer Parks Program admissions/ Port-a-Potty rental
- Easter Egg Hunt Event
- Harvest Picnic Festival Prizes and Supplies
- Garage Sale Advertising
By donating to our Building the Bridge effort one time in the amount of $25, your name (or your family name, etc.) will be engraved on a dedication plaque which will be mounted in the South Park for future generations to acknowledge and enjoy. Our goal is to raise $2,500 to supplement the repair, clean-up and dedication efforts. Even if you can only send $1, $5, or $10….please consider helping us to repair the bridge, beautify it and the surrounding area, and add to the value of our park.
