About Canton:

Canton Township is located in the State of Michigan, USA, on the far western edge of Wayne county. Canton is approximately 20 miles east of Ann Arbor, 35 miles west of Detroit and 50 miles north of Toledo, Ohio. The township was established in 1834 and is one of the fastest growing communities in the state today. Brookside Village Subdivision was built in the 1970’s and remains a valued area to live and raise families. 

As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 76,366. The 2006 estimate by the U.S. Census Bureau put the population at 86,539.^[4] Canton is one of Michigan’s fastest growing communities. Based on statistics reported to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Canton was the nation’s 20th safest municipality during 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006^[5].
